Uni Wien is really good at public holidays. For the most recent break (Whitsunday long weekend) my parents packed me up in the car and took me on a super cute family road trip to Ljubljana, Slovenia and Trieste, Italy. La vita è veramente bella!
Due to complications with my geriatric back I missed most of Slovenia, but I had a pretty decadent hotel room to make up for it:
The highlight of Trieste was Castello di Miramare, home of Emperor Maximilian of Mexico (little brother of Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph). Very nice little white castle on a hill overlooking the Adriatic Sea.
Had some pretty excellent Italian dinners too, featuring exquisitely fresh seafood, wine that cost more than my usual 3 euros and my new favourite dessert: ridiculously delicious Italian churros made of pizza dough and smothered in hot nutella. Should probably have got that gym membership after all.
Grazie mille Mama e Papa! xx
