Road trip with the folks

Uni Wien is really good at public holidays. For the most recent break (Whitsunday long weekend) my parents packed me up in the car and took me on a super cute family road trip to Ljubljana, Slovenia and Trieste, Italy. La vita รจ veramente bella!

Due to complications with my geriatric back I missed most of Slovenia, but I had a pretty decadent hotel room to make up for it:

The highlight of Trieste was Castello di Miramare, home of Emperor Maximilian of Mexico (little brother of Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph). Very nice little white castle on a hill overlooking the Adriatic Sea.

Had some pretty excellent Italian dinners too, featuring exquisitely fresh seafood, wine that cost more than my usual 3 euros and my new favourite dessert: ridiculously delicious Italian churros made of pizza dough and smothered in hot nutella. Should probably have got that gym membership after all.

Grazie mille Mama e Papa! xx

Here Comes the Sun

Spring is here! Time to hit the parks/woods/any patch of sunlight available. Flowers are blooming everywhere are there are literally birds singing wherever you go.

We celebrated the new weather with a picnic in Stadtpark where we sat and ate and drank and read for hours.

On Sunday my newest Perth visitor (Alex II) and I visited the Belvedere to check the most famous paintings by Gustav Klimt and a heap of other incredible pieces of art including realist, impressionist, medieval, and more. They don't allow photos inside but we made the most of the sunshine in the gardens.
